The Construction of Office Furniture

Rarely is the more expensive, and often more attractive, wooden furniture used in the average office space. Instead, cheap but effective is the goal, which can sometimes be just as attractive as its more expensive wooden counterpart. Furniture made from extruded metal is most common, because the metal extrusion process is less expensive than other metal fabrication processes and the products crafted with it can therefore be sold for a lower price. Extruded metal also has a number of other positive characteristics, specifics of which depend on the type of metal being extruded. Continue reading

Pushing the Particulars of Aluminum

Aluminum is the most substantial metallic element that can be found in the earth’s crust. When raw, aluminum is referred to as Bauxite, which is aluminum alloyed with additional materials. Due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, high resistance to corrosion, low manufacturing costs and bright and shiny aesthetics, aluminum is an exceptionally popular metal alloy used for extruded parts and components in numerous markets. Aluminum can also be appreciated by environmentally conscious individuals and businesses, as its extrusions are 100% recyclable. Continue reading

Desirable Extruded Aluminum

Fast reliable processes that are profitable with high repeatability are a manufacturer’s best friend. Extrusion is one of these processes. Several metals and materials are used in the extrusion process, going as far back as 1797 with Joseph Brahma. The process continued to evolve into the 19th century with Thomas Burr and again in 1894 with Alexander Dick. Since the beginning, three items have been needed in order for the extrusion process to function. Those items are a ram, a billet and a die. In addition, there are a few types of extrusion and temperatures that are advantageous in their own ways. One of the most preferred metals across industries is aluminum. Extruded aluminum is a favorite in this process for a number of reasons. Continue reading
