New Improvements for Balers

Growing up with a lot of relatives whom owned farms, baling is no foreign term for me. Balers, or as it is often misspelled bailers, are of vital importance to farms, especially ones that work with items such as hay. One of my uncles owns a large farm where he grows primarily corn and hay while raising a nice herd of cows. I remember crawling on the large bales of hay when I was younger and could not imagine how my uncle was able to wind them up so tight. Well, obviously he didn’t. He had a large hay baler that was able to take care of the job for him and it did its job well! Continue reading

Used Balers Can Save Companies Money

Balers have a wide variety of uses in a number of industries. They can be found in food processing, landfills, scrap yards, recycling, hospitality, retail and warehouses amongst others. They can be used to compact a large range of items, based on the need of the company or industry. These can range from cardboard, to textiles, to plastics, to metal. They help these industries because they are able to compact the material, often reducing the size of the waste by seventy-five percent. This can save the company money in transportation and disposal of the waste. Not to mention all the space it is able to save if the materials would have to be stored. After the material is compressed, it is bound in plastic, string or wire. This holds the material in its tightly compressed shape until it is disposed. Continue reading

Balers: Reducing Waste to Reduce Landfills

Growing up on a small farm in Michigan meant that there was always work to be done, especially in the summer months. Although the only crop we produced was hay, harvest time meant long days of hard work for every able bodied family member. Thankfully, the burdensome work was significantly reduced through the use of balers. These simple looking tractor accessories compress and bind the hay, making bales of a particular size and shape that are more easily transported. While the agricultural balers I grew to sincerely appreciate in my youth are still in high demand for farms of all sizes, balers of another kind are becoming increasingly popular in residential, commercial and industrial settings. These machines compact much more than crops of hay and wheat; metal, trash, plastics and cardboard are all reduced to solid blocks of material which in turn reduce waste bulk and cut carbon emissions.
