Dense phase conveying was designed to handle bulk materials and heavy, abrasive objects. Typically, the conveyance method is used with rough manufacturing materials, such as rocks, loose materials, and other heavy, bulk equipment and particles. Most commonly, dense phase conveying is used to transport friable, agglomerated, heavy, or blended materials from place to place. Without this form of dense bulk conveying, many manufacturing plants would have to come up with other, less-effective methods to handle large amounts of heavy and abrasive raw materials.
Although there are other methods of conveying heavy and bulky materials from place to place, dense phase conveyors can provide many advantages over other systems, such as:
Gentler conveyance: Dense phase conveyors use a low-velocity liquid in pneumatic systems to move the objects from one place to another. The conveyors counteract the low velocity of the liquid with high-pressure differential systems, which help move the actual weight of the objects. A lower velocity conveyance system means that the transfer of the materials is gentler, leading to fewer problems with the materials and machine and a safer ride for the materials.
Less component wear: The low velocity construction of a dense phase conveyor means that the materials have less impact on the components of the conveyor system. This slows down the wear and tear process on the conveyor as well as other surrounding components involved in the manufacturing and refining process of the raw materials.
Cost savings: The unique construction of dense phase conveyors leads to cost savings for the manufacturing plant for two different reasons. The materials do not break down equipment as quickly, leading to fewer repairs and component replacements. The materials also do not jostle together as much, which can lead to less product waste along the production line.
