Precision linear bearings are just one example of an industrial product that is characterized by its extreme precision, and successful because of it. This particular product is also popular because it can be utilized in a variety of ways in a variety of industrial settings.The general function of linear bearings is to move an object or part within a system on a single, back and forth path with ease. Precision linear bearings specifically are able to control the movement for extremely demanding applications or machines that move at high speeds and therefore require more control from their linear bearings. The shape of this industrial tool varies. For example, linear ball bearings are defined by the fact that small metallic balls within a ruler shaped frame provide the movement for whatever slides along their track, while linear rotary bearings involve the movement of a shaft that can rotate 360°. Air bearings are defined by the fact that a pocket of air within a track is what separates the object moving from the surface steadying it, which means the two never come in contact. Therefore, no friction is produced that could cause quick deterioration of the linear bearing. That also means that the initial calibration of the precision linear bearing utilizing air never needs to be altered but retains its perfection.
