High Vacuum Pumps Have Multiple Uses
It is difficult to imagine what it would be like inside a vacuum. I imagine it to be a desolate place where no benign organisms can live. It is almost like my worst nightmare. Even though I know that it would be impossible, it makes me feel extremely claustrophobic at the thought of being placed inside a vacuum. A contained space in which no matter is present, in other words a perfect vacuum, is impossible to create, but it can come really close with the use of high vacuum and ultra high vacuums. Industrial vacuum pumps are able to remove varying levels of atmosphere in enclosed spaces in order to create extremely low levels of pressure in enclosed spaces.
High vacuum pumps are mainly used in scientific and industrial applications. Some examples of their applications are pharmaceutical preparation, molecular analysis in a laboratory, semiconductor manufacturing and other types of manufacturing and degassing. The medical, dental, engineering, automotive, biological and chemical industries also use high vacuum pumps regularly. One of the ways vacuum pumps are evaluated is the degree or level of vacuum suction they can create for how many times or how much gas it pumps within a specific unit of time. Other high vacuum pump attributes to consider are its configuration, pumping speed, power source, motor power, single stage or multi-stage and mounting style and features. Typically one can be custom made to your specific application.
When a high vacuum is required for an application, two or more pumps are used in a series to complete the job. Moment transfer pumps use high vacuums to initiate movement. Two types of moment transfer pumps include diffusion pumps and turbomolecular pumps. They accelerate the molecules using high-speed gas jets or a series of high-speed fans to expel them from the sealed chamber. As you can see, vacuum pumps are important in everyday use.
