Food Grade Tanks:The Vast Food Varieties

To my delight and the delight of everyone I know, the varieties of food available to us are vast. Where I live there is a lovely selection of restaurants ranging from Thai to Mexican to Americana, from meat focused dishes to places that serve vegetarian food exclusively. No matter what type of flavor I am in the mood for I can go to a faviconrestaurant to get my needs met. This is partly due to food grade tanks, particularly those made of stainless steel. Utilized in virtually every food group production process, storing and/or transporting edibles are done by way of these FDA regulated stainless steel tanks.

Food grade tanks must meet a number of standards because the food must exit them after storage or transportation as clean and healthy as it was when it went in. That is why stainless steel is such a popular food grade tank material. Stainless steel is a steel alloy with incredible resistance to corrosion due to weather, water and chemicals. In addition, because the surface of stainless steel does not break down it also is not attractive to bacteria or disease. It cleans easily and is strong and durable. Just purchasing a SS tank meets most of the FDA regulations for a tank that holds or processes food or drink.

The varieties of foods that find themselves in food grade tanks are vast. Items such as peanut butter and chocolate are mixed and processed in food grade tanks, particularly noteworthy because those tanks must be completely sanitized if anything else is going to be processed in the tank afterwards due to food allergy risks. Milk homogenization is also practiced in a certain style of food grade tank, the dairy tank. Meat processing companies require tanks for mixing different kinds of meat as do juice factories that need to store and mix different types of fruit blends.
