Heat Exchangers for the Winter Season

As winter is just right around the corner, the cool fall days are already feeling just as cold as a mid winter day for me. Because I live in the Midwest I can’t really escape the cold from the months of October through March. The cold air is about to arrive and stay here for the season, not to mention snow will start to fall soon. When I think about the winter coming, I started to pull out all of my extra blankets around the house and get out all my winter sweaters and clothes. Just a few weeks ago I turned on the heating system in my house for the fist time for the season. Now I can expect higher gas bills from running it so often. This makes me think about how many people run heating elements everyday and how much energy they waste. It started to get me thinking that maybe heat exchanger companies could show the advantages of their products to make homeowners aware of the benefits that they already bring to industrial manufacturing companies where they are most commonly used. Continue reading

Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger: The Tube Specifics

As one of the most basic and commonly used heat exchanger designs in the business, understanding the construction and key components of shell and tube heat exchangers is advisable. Available in a wide range of sizes, its innate mechanical ruggedness ensures that it will work well and last a long time for its various heating and cooling customer needs. Because the metal material of both the shell tube and the internal bundle of tubes should be conductive, corrosion resistant and resilient, stainless steel or copper alloys are often the choices when constructing the shell and tube heat exchanger. Continue reading

Heat Exchangers Important Role

Any heat exchanger manufacturer can tell you the important role that a heat exchanger plays in products such as the refrigerator, air conditioner, space heater and many other similar units. These types of units are almost constantly running to keep areas hot or cold at any given time and the heat exchanger can help these units run more smoothly and efficiently. There are a few different types of heat exchangers that are used in today’s market including spiral plate heat exchangers, shell and tube heat exchangers, plate coil heat exchangers and various others. Each of these types can provide for different applications such as water to water, air to water, water to air, and air to air heat exchanging. Used in a variety of fields, the heat exchanger is a valuable asset on many machine running products. Continue reading

Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers: U-Tubes not YouTubes

On hot summer days it’s nice to cool off by jumping into a cool, refreshing swimming pool. I don’t have one at my house so I usually have to butter up my pool owning friends and hang out at their house all day. No matter how excruciating the heat was, pool water always seems to stay relativity the same temperature. How does the water not boil on those hotter days? I realize it takes more energy to heat larger bodies of water but it’s always at just the right degrees. The answer lies within the pool’s heating and cooling system. Continue reading
