The Never Ending Battle to Start Recycling

I tend to talk about recycling A LOT. Not only in the blogs I write but to my friends, boyfriend and family as well. To me recycling and taking care of the environment is incredibly important. I may over do it, which could be why my little cousins call me “hippy”, but with my obsession with the ocean, it is hard for me not to focus on how important preserving the planet is. Yet I do understand that it can be difficult. The processes and organization of the recycling industry have improved immensely. The balers used are able to reduce the volume, making the items easier to recycle as a result. Sadly, the one thing that has not been sorted out is the monetary aspect. Recycling can be costly and many cannot afford it. Continue reading

New Improvements for Balers

Growing up with a lot of relatives whom owned farms, baling is no foreign term for me. Balers, or as it is often misspelled bailers, are of vital importance to farms, especially ones that work with items such as hay. One of my uncles owns a large farm where he grows primarily corn and hay while raising a nice herd of cows. I remember crawling on the large bales of hay when I was younger and could not imagine how my uncle was able to wind them up so tight. Well, obviously he didn’t. He had a large hay baler that was able to take care of the job for him and it did its job well! Continue reading

Trying to Stay Green with Trash Compactor Manufacturers

At home, we have a decently large trashcan in our kitchen. With this one, we are able to change it about once a week. Meanwhile at our small cottage, the main trash is very tiny. This one usually needs to be taken out every couple days. In both cases, a decent amount of trash is produced. Some households purchase small trash compactors so that these amounts can be reduced. However, the majority of us rely on garbage trucks with compactors to come take care of the waste for us. By compacting waste the size of the load is greatly reduced, saving landfill space and helping save more room on our planet. Trash, especially the plastics and products humans tend to use, can take a long time to decompose. Some items, like many plastics can last almost forever. For items like these recycling is obviously ideal, but that can be costly and many don’t bother. Continue reading

Industrial Options for the Environment, Privacy and Protection

I feel like it is a topic I talk about far too often, but recycling is really something that all businesses should get in the practice of. With global warming constantly hovering over us, it is a simple way to make a beneficial change for the world. It helps to reuse products instead of simply throwing them in landfills where they will sit for years before beginning to break down. One incredibly easy item to begin new recycling practices with is paper. Offices and industries typically go through massive amounts of paper each month. Instead of tossing it in the trash, it can be stored to be sent to recycling facilities instead. Continue reading

Where to turn? Baler Manufacturers

When it comes to choosing the baler manufacturer for your needs, a lot of decisions need to be made first. What types of materials will you be baling or compacting? What materials will you be binding with, will you need them bound? Will the loads be large or small? Will they be frequent or occasional? What size did you have in mind? Finally, how much are you willing to spend? Answering these questions can help you pinpoint the perfect product for you. Continue reading

Industrial Balers to Protect the Environment

Whenever I see footage or a photo of a sea animal caught in a trash bag, or a plastic ring that was used to hold pop bottles, I get one of the worst sinking feelings in my stomach. It is so tragic that a simple piece of garbage can have such negative effects if not disposed of. When a dolphin or shark gets caught in one of these, it will often get entangled and suffocate. Often, it is a complete accident. It may not have been littering, the bag might have blown out of the truck as it was on its way to be recycled. Today, you can never be too careful when protecting the environment from further damage. To prevent loose articles from escaping, balers can often be employed. Continue reading

From Cars to Metal Flakes

Recycling metals can be a cost efficient way to cut down the expenditure of energy consumption on mining, refining and processing new metals. The recycling process starts with having scrap metal that needs to be separated and shredded into smaller pieces, which are easy to handle for the next step in recycling. The easiest way to shred metal is with a metal shredder. You can find a metal shredder in any yard that deals with scrap metal. Some scrap yards even have mobile metal shredders for convenience of moving the shredder to and from the piles of scrap metal. Continue reading

Balers vs. Compactors

While balers and compactors appear to be interchangeable, they do have some slight differences. Both processes are often used by industrial manufacturers and retail management to increase space and make the items easily equipped for transportation when necessary. True, they are both used to compact materials in very similar ways, but their overall functions do vary. Compactors tend to focus primarily on waste management, while baling is able to include a larger variety of tasks. Not only do balers compact the products, they also bind the materials. Baling tasks can include recycling, agriculture, and textiles along with waste management. Continue reading

The Compactors Crushing of the Jedi

Quick! In what movie were the heroes almost killed in a giant trash compactor?! That’s correct; the movie was Star Wars, Episode IV. While on the Death Star, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Han Solo and Princess Leia fall into a trash compactor and are almost unable to escape. Luckily for them, C3PO and R2D2 were able to stop the compactor and free them just in time. While the compactor scene in Star Wars made for a thrilling escape and great literary reference to the Bible story of being swallowed by the whale, compactors are generally used for trash only. Continue reading

Drum Crushers, for the Tough and Sticky Problems

Many companies end up with waste products that can’t be easily thrown away. Drums and crates for example are difficult to dispose of because of their size or the materials in them. An easy to relate to example of this problem is old paint cans. Paint cans are often tough to throw away because of the leftover paint within them. While they aren’t as hard to crush as metal drums, they can still be difficult. Not only that, but once crushed, all the paint inside can easily leak out making a mess. In instances such as these, drum crushers can come in handy. Continue reading

The First Step For Recycling

In my opinion, it is always the right time to talk about recycling. It is a trend that many are picking up, and those that have not yet really should. The planet is a fragile place, and without doing our part to help preserve it, it might not last as long as we would hope. Deforestation, coral bleaching, pollution… these hazards are quickly becoming too common and are beginning to take over. If we do not act now, there might not be a way to go back. It is time to start thinking like the Lorax, as cheesy as that sounds, and start to make recycling a major priority. Continue reading

Used Balers Can Save Companies Money

Balers have a wide variety of uses in a number of industries. They can be found in food processing, landfills, scrap yards, recycling, hospitality, retail and warehouses amongst others. They can be used to compact a large range of items, based on the need of the company or industry. These can range from cardboard, to textiles, to plastics, to metal. They help these industries because they are able to compact the material, often reducing the size of the waste by seventy-five percent. This can save the company money in transportation and disposal of the waste. Not to mention all the space it is able to save if the materials would have to be stored. After the material is compressed, it is bound in plastic, string or wire. This holds the material in its tightly compressed shape until it is disposed. Continue reading

Trash Compactors, Compacting the Waste in the World

The human race goes through a lot of trash. The average American is estimated to produce almost 4.5 pounds of garbage each day. In a year, it is around 16,000 pounds. This is no small number. Once you add up the population of the United States, we are talking insanely gross amounts of trash. Where does all of this go? The hope is to landfills, but let’s face it, a lot ends up as pollution on land and in lakes, rivers and oceans. While the best option is to start recycling a lot more and attempting to reduce our waste, the fact is, not everyone is ready to do this. Until then, the best option is to make the waste take up as little space as possible. One way to accomplish this is trash compactors. They are able to reduce the volume of the waste up to 75 percent. This can save a lot of space in the landfills. Continue reading

Shredding, Shredding, Shredding

We live in a scary world where our lives can easily be stolen by someone finding a way to access our credit card or social security number. And while some items, license and passport, must simply be kept in a safe place at all times, what about those other items that are not needed on a frequent basis. These could be your last credit card bill, bank statement or another valuable document that while should be saved temporarily, after that can be disposed of? These documents are not something to simply toss in the garbage where they could easily be found by the wrong hands. In these cases, they should be destroyed so that they are no longer easily readable. Continue reading

Instead of Jumping on Cardboard Boxes, Cardboard Balers

Cardboard waste is often hard to deal with. The pieces are large and awkwardly shaped making them take up too much space in trashcans, recycling bins and dumpsters. At one of my previous jobs, I used to have to jump on them to flatten them so they could fit. While it was fun to do most of the time, it could also be embarrassing and annoying. To battle this inconvenience, cardboard balers are often employed. While they are designed for baling cardboard and corrugated cardboard, often they can also be used for papers and plastics. Typically these balers are vertical, but in some cases they can be horizontal as well. Vertical balers tend to work best because they are better suited for the light materials. Continue reading

Speeding up the Recycling Process with Metal Balers

Global warming was once just hollow words to most of us. Now, it is finally being regarded as a tragic fact by nearly everyone. True, many people do still hold out against this saying its some crackpot theory or government hoax, but luckily those numbers are few and being lessened everyday. As temperatures of the ocean rise, killing off our reefs and slowly melting all of the artic glaciers, people are beginning to try to play their part. One of the best and easiest ways to do this is by recycling. After the products are turned in, before the recycling process actually begins, the products are usually baled. Continue reading

So Many Industry Applications

With health care, recycling, waster removal, paper production, milling, storage and other industrial industries, tons of waste is produced that must be properly disposed of. The most common waste is old packaging material and private documents. Not only do companies want this information destroyed to protect individual’s privacy, but many have also jumped on the recycling bandwagon after the increasing awareness of the global warming crisis. By using industrial shredders, documents can be properly destroyed, and the packaging items, papers and other materials can be made ready for recycling processes so that the products can be used again instead of tossed into landfills. Continue reading

Vertical Balers for Lighter Materials

Balers can be either horizontal or vertical. This directional set up refers to how the materials flow and are compacted, and certain methods work better for certain materials. Horizontal balers tend to be more popular because they can compact large amounts of waste and can handle medium and heavy items. Vertical balers are typically used in industries and facilities that produce smaller amounts of waste. They often deal with materials that are lighter in both density and volume. Because vertical balers tend to be more compact than their horizontal counterparts, they are more suited for these types of functions. Continue reading

For All Those Cardboard Boxes

With a sister working in the retail industry, I spent many years partaking in what most would call the Black Friday festivities, helping her store out for what they referred to as “Friends and Family Day”. The later sounds better, but it definitely was a black day to me. Endless folding, organizing, opening new boxes to restock shelves…. It was a long day that seemed to never end. It was amazing how much stuff retail stores actually have out and how much they had stored in boxes in the back. There were endless boxes, and they can be a hassle to deal with. One method that would be a great investment for retail industries is the cardboard shredder. Continue reading
